Creative Media Lab
Today's Plan
Today you'll create images, video, and music using AI tools. For each round, you'll pair up with a partner, agree on a concept, then each create something independently. Comparing your results reveals how much the output depends on the person prompting — not just the prompt itself.

Create Images
Partner Activity
This activity involves working with a partner.
Round 1: Images
- Agree on a concept with your partner — a scene, character, object, or idea you both want to create as an image
- Work independently — each of you should use an AI image tool to generate your version (you can use different tools). Good free options: Google Gemini (most generous free tier), ChatGPT (higher quality but limited to 2-3 images/day), or Microsoft Copilot
- Compare results — show each other what you got. How similar are they? What surprised you?
- Submit your best creation below

Create Video
Partner Activity
This activity involves working with a partner.
Round 2: Video
- Agree on a concept with your new partner — a short scene or clip you both want to create
- Work independently — use an AI video tool. Pika is the best free option (80 credits/month, watermarked). Runway offers a small one-time trial. Video generation is slower than images — you may only get 1-2 attempts
- Compare results — what did you get? How does it compare to what you imagined?
- Submit your creation below (paste the URL to your generated video)

Create Music
Partner Activity
This activity involves working with a partner.
Round 3: Music
- Agree on a concept with your new partner — a genre, mood, theme, or even specific lyrics
- Work independently — use an AI music tool. Suno is the best free option (~10 songs/day). Udio also works (3 songs/day) but downloads may be limited
- Compare results — listen to what you each got. How close was it to what you imagined?
- Submit your creation below (paste the URL to your generated song)

Discussion
Closing Discussion
Now that you've used AI to create across three different media, let's reflect:
- Creative control: Which medium gave you the most control over the output? The least? Why do you think that is?
- Surprises: Did the AI ever produce something better than what you imagined? Something worse? What does "better" even mean here?
- Same concept, different output: You and your partner started with the same idea. What caused the differences in your results?
- Human creators: When AI can generate images, music, and video in seconds, what happens to human artists, musicians, and filmmakers?
- Energy cost: Our class just used AI to generate dozens of images, videos, and songs. How much energy do you think that consumed? Does it matter?
